Otago Chamber of Commerce is welcoming a $20 million injection by Lion at the Speight's brewery in Dunedin.
Lion announced on Thursday it will stop beer making at its quake-damaged Canterbury brewery and move brewing to Dunedin.
The moves means 38 jobs have been lost at the Canterbury brewery, but 16 will be created in Dunedin.
The chamber says other business sectors such as transportation and freight will benefit.
