Sir Peter Jackson has confirmed English actor Orlando Bloom has joined the cast of The Hobbit.
An online announcement says Bloom will reprise the role of the Legolas, the elf character he played in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
The first of the two Hobbit films will be released late next year.
