Voice information on some trains

4:58 am on 30 May 2011

Commuters on some trains in Auckland will be greeted by a voice giving information from Monday morning.

Three trains are part of a four-week trial of a voice system, which is similar to that found on some buses.

Actor Nathaniel Lees has voiced the announcements, which say what the next station is.

If customer feedback is positive, the system will be used on all trains in Auckland in time for the Rugby World Cup.

The Foundation of the Blind says such systems are commonly found overseas.
