The police say people sleeping in a garage that was peppered with bullets had a lucky escape.
Six shots were fired into the side of a garage on a property on Hinemoa Street in the Christchurch suburb of Spreydon at about 5.30am on Thursday.
The police say a man and two teenage boys were at the property and two were sleeping in the garage the shots were fired at. No-one was harmed.
The police say the situation could have been much worse and there is no known motive for the shooting at this stage. Four bullets have been found and will be analysed.
