Fans unhappy with Highlanders' new playing strip

The Otago Rugby Supporters Club says fans are unhappy with the Highlanders' new green and blue playing strip unveiled at Carisbrook on Friday night.

The team wore blue shorts, and green jerseys and socks.

Despite the new colours, the Highlanders lost to the Western Force, 21-14.

The franchise says it changed the strip as the team's previous colours were associated with poor performance over a long period of time.

Supporters club chairman Fred Cross says Highlanders fans will continue to support the team, but they are unlikely to buy the new jersey.
