Army brought into search for missing man

The Army has been brought in to join the search for a missing Palmerston North man, as police concede more sinister explanations for his disappearance are possible.

Brett Hall, 47, was reported missing on Tuesday. He was last seen on his property off River Road, north of Whanganui.

A caravan on Mr Hall's lifestyle block was found unlocked and his vehicle and quad bike were nearby.

Senior Sergeant Darcy Forrester says six soldiers with search and rescue expertise are now helping in rugged terrain, as bad weather sets in.

But he says it would now be naive not to consider other, perhaps more sinister, explanations for the disappearance.
