Police in Timaru are investigating the discovery of a woman's body.
They were alerted by St Johns Ambulance at 9am on Sunday after a member of the public discovered the body on a driveway off Quarry Road.
The road runs next to the scenic reserve, Centennial Park, on the city's southside.
Senior Sergeant Mark Offen says a scene examination has been completed and the deceased has been taken to Christchurch for a post-mortem examination.
He says the cause of death is not yet known and the incident is being treated as suspicious at this stage.
The woman's next of kin have been advised but her identity has not been released.
The post-mortem will take place on Monday morning.
