A man, who sparked an Armed Offenders Squad callout near Nelson has been charged with firearms offences.
Police say the man threatened two people he knew, who were visiting an address in Rosedale road in Upper Moutere on Saturday night.
He fired a gun into the air after he asked them to leave the property.
The police were not called at that stage.
However, the Armed Offenders Squad issued a search warrant at the man's Rosedale road home on Sunday afternoon, after the man's neighbours reported receiving threatening phone calls from him.
He will appear in the Nelson District Court on Tuesday.
