Whangarei people urged to use White Cross clinic

5:06 pm on 12 June 2011

Northland Health is urging people in Whangarei who have had minor accidents to go to a White Cross clinic rather than the hospital.

It says the emergency department is seeing growing numbers of patients who should have been seen by a GP, and resources are stretched.

Medical Services manager, Dr Nick Chamberlain, says many people do not realise there is no charge for ACC cases at White Cross.

He says it would help greatly if minor accident cases headed for the clinic, instead of clogging up the Emergency Department.

Dr Chamberlain says White Cross doctors can deal with everything from cuts and sprains to minor fractures.
