Police suspect missing man victim of foul play

Police have called off their search for a Palmerston North man missing for more than two weeks, saying they believe he is the victim of foul play.

Brett Hall, 47, has not been seen since 29 May. A search began for him two days later near a lifestyle block he owns in Whanaganui off River Road.

Mr Hall's Toyota Hi-Lux was found next to his unlocked caravan, and his quad bike just a few hundred metres away.

Detective Senior Sergeant David Kirby told Checkpoint on Tuesday that police believe Mr Hall has been the subject of foul play.

An intensive search of bush at the weekend was unsuccessful and Mr Kirby says searchers are pretty satisfied that if Mr Hall was in there, they would have found him.

Police are interviewing Mr Hall's family and people who had contact with him in the lead-up to his disappearance.

Further searches will only be carried out if new information is received about his disappearance, police say.
