Busy year for Serious Fraud Office

3:30 pm on 21 June 2011

The Serious Fraud Office says its case load this year has turned out to be 75% larger than originally forecast.

The SFO's chief executive, Adam Feeley, says the office is extremely busy, with 25 investigations currently underway.

He says a number of investigations into finance companies have now been wrapped up - or are close to a conclusion, with decisions to be announced over the next few weeks.

Mr Feeley says the only particularly large cases involving finance companies that are still being worked on are South Canterbury Finance and Hanover Finance.

He says investigations into those are likely to continue for some months.
