Marina Erakovic has followed up her form from the Wimbledon qualifying tournament with a routine win in the first round.
The New Zealand No. 1 beat another qualifier, Chang Kai-Chen from Taiwan, 6-4 6-2 after rain delayed their match on Tuesday.
In the second round, Erakovic faces 25th seed Daniela Hantuchova, and based on the Slovakian's first-round match, the New Zealander must rate her chances of reaching the third round.
Hantuchova only just survived her opening match against a Russian qualifier who won the first set, and took the second to a tie breaker.
