The Government has established a new cricket scholarship and academic exchange programme for students from India.
Prime Minister John Key has made the announcement during his visit there.
He says the countries share a love of cricket and the scholarships will give young Indians and New Zealanders the chance to share skills and expertise.
The programme will also include an exchange for sports academics, coaches and trainers.
Details of how many scholarships will be available have yet to be worked out.
