Dunedin to review push for quake-hit businesses

Dunedin City Council is reviewing its whole approach to marketing the city to earthquake-hit businesses in Canterbury.

A council working party set up after the 22 February quake said last week it would offer rates relief and grants to firms that relocate.

But a brochure promoting Dunedin is on hold since the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce warned the promotion would incur the wrath of Christchurch businesses.

The council's economic development manager, Peter Harris, says the strategy is being reconsidered.

The council will sit down with business groups on Friday afternoon to review the city's options.
