The father of a New Zealand freelance journalist detained in Yemen is confident his son will soon be released.
Glen Johnson was arrested a week ago for being in the country illegally. It is not known where he is being held.
His father, Mike Johnson, says he has now had information that the authorities are preparing to deport him.
Mr Johnson says the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade has confirmed a statement from Washington that his son will be deported.
