Police have spoken with the mother of a baby girl whose body was found in a creek in rural South Auckland.
The new-born was found in a plastic bag in the stream beneath Burnside Culvert in Ardmore about 9pm on Saturday.
Police have interviewed the 21-year-old mother and say no charges have been laid at this stage.
They understand the baby was born at a Burnside Road property last Wednesday.
Police say a post-mortem carried out this morning confirmed it was the body of a baby girl, which was at least five weeks' premature.
They say the circumstances surrounding her death are unclear and are awaiting the results of pathology tests.
