A Levin woman has been arrested and another man is wanted, following a stabbing.
Surgeons have been operating on a Foxton man, who has abdominal injuries as a result of the attack at a house between 5am and 5.30am on Wednesday.
Detective Sergeant Sarn Paroli says the victim, 34, managed to drive himself to a Shell petrol station in Levin for help, before an ambulance arrived.
Both the house and the service station are undergoing forensic examination.
The arrested woman will appear in the Levin District Court later in the day, charged with assault, but could face more charges.
The second suspect is described as a Levin man.
