A woman driving in Hamilton has returned an alcohol breath test three times over the legal limit.
Police say she returned a result of 1460 micrograms of alcohol per litre of breath when tested about 9.30am on Thursday.
The legal limit is 400 micrograms of alcohol per litre of breath.
Police say it is the third time in two years the woman has returned a result over 1100 micrograms.
Senior Sergeant Jeff Penno says the result is shocking, particularly for the time of day.
The woman has been charged with excess breath alcohol, third or subsequent offence.
