South and West Auckland have been left off a list recommending which parts of the region should be given ultrafast broadband first.
The report, written by BERL (Business and Economic Research Ltd) for Auckland Council, recommends that key urban areas that should first get the new broadband.
They are the central business district, Newmarket, Grafton, Penrose, Takapuna, Devonport and Whangaparaoa.
The report says that's because they are high density areas, with more people who are likely to become customers, and future funding depends on strong demand for the first wave of the service.
Councillors are being urged by council officers to accept the list, which will be used to lobby Telecom and the Government.
