Oxfam New Zealand wants people to get behind an appeal to relieve an African famine which is believed to be the worst in 60 years.
Twelve million people, mostly in Ethiopia, Somalia and northern Kenya, are affected by drought.
Aid agencies say thousands of people in desperate need of food and water are arriving at refugee camps in Kenya and Ethiopia.
Oxfam hopes to raise $100,000 through the appeal in New Zealand.
Meanwhile, Save the Children says no rain is expected before September. It says the situation is getting worse.
