Crusaders win would be 'big boost' for Christchurch

A Christchurch City Councillor says a win for the Crusaders in the Super Rugby final would be a fantastic boost for the spirits of people in the battered city.

Bars in Christchurch suburbs are expecting to be busy as people come out to watch the game in Brisbane on Saturday.

Councillor Sue Wells says the success of the Crusaders this season has lifted the spirits of Cantabrians who are still reeling from the affects of the earthquakes.

With AMI Stadium out of action and the Crusaders forced to travel away from Christchurch every week to play their games, she says supporters would have understood if the team had had a miserable season.

Ms Wells says the team has done people proud.

Whether the Crusaders win or lose, she says she expects a big crowd will welcome them home on Sunday at Christchurch international airport.
