Prison escapes are at a record low.
Corrections Minister, Judith Collins, says there were four escapes from Corrections custody in the past financial year.
Nine escapes were made in the previous year and 23 in the year spanning 2007 and 2008.
For the first time, there were no incidents of inmates escaping from work parties, a common getaway tactic previously.
