A six-year-old East Coast boy has undergone surgery following an attack by two dogs that left him with head and facial injuries.
The dogs attacked him at a home in Ruatoria late on Wednesday afternoon.
He was taken to Te Puia Springs hospital before he was flown by helicopter to Gisborne hospital, where he underwent surgery.
The hospital says he is in a stable condition.
Police say the two dogs were seized and destroyed shortly after the attack.
