Another South Island ski field opened on Friday.
Porters in mid Canterbury was scheduled to open on 26 June.
But the opening was delayed following the field's warmest May on record and third warmest June.
This week's storm brought 1.5 metres of snow. Strong winds have spread the snow, creating an average base of 0.5 metres.
The lower mountain opened on Friday morning and the upper mountain will open at the weekend.
