Two people are in Waikato hospital following a head-on collision on State Highway Four, near Aria.
The crash occured about 10 pm, when a Subaru attempted to pass a line of vehicles and struck an oncoming car.
A man from the oncoming vehicle was airlifted to hospital with head and abdominal injuries.
A woman from that car has suspected spinal and abdominal injuries.
The drivers of both cars had only minor injuries.
