Police investigating the discovery of a baby's body in a stream in Auckland have arrested and charged her mother.
The body of the newborn baby was found wrapped in a plastic bag near a culvert in the suburb of Ardmore earlier this month.
The baby's mother, 21, has been charged with concealing the body of a child and police say further charges are possible.
Detective Inspector Mark Gutry says he is waiting for a detailed report from a paediatric pathologist before deciding.
At the time the body was discovered police said the baby had been born at least five weeks' premature.
The woman has been released on bail and is due to appear in court next month.
