More than 4000 pies are going through a rigorous judging process in the search for New Zealand's best pie.
The Supreme Pie Awards attracts entrants from all over the country.
Judges were on Thursday evaluating 11 categories including mince and gravy, steak and cheese, gourmet meat, bacon and egg and gourmet fruit.
Chief judge Grant Wilson says the standard of pies improves every year as people try hard to turn out a good product.
Winners will be named next week.
