The ex-boyfriend of a New Zealand teenager has appeared in court in Britain charged with her murder.

Emily Longley, 17, was found dead in May at the home of Elliott Turner in Bournemouth, on the south coast of England.

Mr Turner, 20, is also charged with perverting the course of justice.

He is accused of failing to phone emergency services and attempting to persuade his mother to change her account to police.

His parents, who live at the same address as their son, also appeared in court charged with conspiring to pervert the course of justice.

They are accused of failing to phone emergency services and destroying evidence relating to Miss Longley's death.

Mr Turner was remanded in custody to reappear in court next week. His parents are due in court in October.

Miss Longley was originally from Auckland, but moved to Bournemouth last year.

A post-mortem failed to find the cause of her death.
