Mild weather forecast for Rugby World Cup

9:06 pm on 1 August 2011

All of New Zealand will enjoy mild weather conditions during the Rugby World Cup, according to the latest NIWA outlook.

The National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research says the Pacific is in the neutral range, which means it is neither a La Nina nor El Nino state.

This will result in average or above average temperatures, and average rainfall for all of August, September and October.

However, NIWA says there still may be a few cold snaps typical of this time of year.

The Rugby World Cup starts in Auckland on 9 September.
