1:01 pm on 10 August 2011

The Tasman Makos rugby team is to join forces with Tasman police to lead a public awareness campaign to reduce drunkenness and violence on Nelson city streets at night.

Superintendent Gary Knowles says the players are supporting a code to stay tidy in both dress and behaviour.

He says the players will set a standard for others to follow when they are out on the town.

A formal accord will be signed on 16 August.
