Wildlife park keys handed over to receivers

3:31 pm on 10 August 2011

Receivers for Zion Wildlife Gardens were able to enter the park at Whangarei on Wednesday after an order from the High Court.

Zoo managing director Patricia Busch earlier stopped receivers from entering the property.

Ms Busch has also launched legal action to try and stop the zoo's big cats from being sold or put down.

Lawyer Evgeny Orlov says famers and hunters are now helping feed them.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry says it is working closely with the receivers to monitor the animals' welfare.

Earlier, receiver Colin McCloy said the status of the park's operations will be assessed when PricewaterhouseCoopers obtained entry.
