NZ Olympic head confident London Games will be safe

12:50 pm on 11 August 2011

New Zealand Olympic Committee chef de mission Dave Currie is confident London will provide a safe and secure environment for the Olympic Games next year, despite the rioting that has shaken British cities this week.

Mr Currie is in London and will be meeting Olympic Committee representatives.

"We still have a high degree of confidence that they will have a process and a system that will give us a safe and secure environment next year," he said.

Mr Currie told Morning Report the rioting has been localised and not close to any of the venues.
