The British government has announced that the next British High Commissioner to New Zealand will be Vicki Treadell.
Ms Treadell is currently the British Deputy High Commissioner in Mumbai and is a career diplomat with experience spanning 30 years.
She has previously had overseas postings in Pakistan and Malaysia and has worked in the British counterpart of New Zealand Trade and Enterprise.
Ms Treadell was born in Malaysia and her mother was Singapore Chinese.
She takes up the post next May.
