A jury in the High Court in Napier has been unable to reach a verdict in the trial of a man charged with manslaughter.

Trent Owen Hapuku, 22, has been on trial since Monday charged with fatally injuring a five-month-old baby boy from the Hastings suburb of Flaxmere in January.

On Friday, the jury was reduced to 11 members after Justice Mallon agreed to discharge one of the jurors, who was deemed no longer capable of serving as a juror.
