Auckland and Central will share hockey's Challenge Shield after snow forced an early end to the National League men's final in Wellington on Sunday.

Auckland was leading 2-1 with about 20 minutes to go when players fled the pitch and it was later agreed that the match would have to be abandoned.

It was Central's first appearance in the final and Auckland's first in 10 years.

It was also the Auckland women's first final since 2001 and they beat Central 5-2 in their final after leading 2-1 at half-time

Katie Glynn got a hat-trick and her Black Sticks team-mate Krystal Forgesson scored twice in the second spell.

Erin Weber and Tara Drysdale scored for Central.
