One person has died in a house fire at a rural property near Tauranga.
Fire crews were called to the Wairoa Road property at 8.30pm on Saturday after a neighbour raised the alarm. An hour later, a person was found inside the house.
Fire Service spokesman Jaron Phillips said seven fire trucks and three water tankers from Tauranga, Greerton, Waihi and Matamata fought the blaze.
Police confirmed one person had died but no other details have been released.
