Police in Auckland have arrested a man after an officer was injured while investigating a rape complaint in Te Atatu.
Officers were called out at about 1am on Friday. An officer was speaking with the complainant when he was attacked from behind by a man armed with a knife.
He was treated in hospital for injuries to his hands and head.
A man is to appear in Waitakere District Court on Friday on two charges of threatening to kill two police officers, another of injuring with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and one charge of rape.
