A man has been arrested in connection with the killing of New Zealander Charles Jones at a tourist resort in southern Thailand.
Mr Jones, president of the World Croquet Federation, is believed to have been attacked in a rented apartment on Tuesday while on holiday in the Jomtien area of the city of Pattaya.
His sister, Alison McMillan, says their family heard of the arrest on Friday evening from a friend of Mr Jones who has been assisting Thai police with their investigation.
Ms McMillan says the family is grateful to the Thai police, adding that she was hasty in comments made earlier when she was upset and frustrated. She says her brother's body will be brought back to New Zealand on Tuesday.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not been able to confirm the arrest.
