One person was killed when a car hit a streetlight pole in the Auckland suburb of Papatoetoe on Saturday morning.
The police say emergency services were called to Great South Road at 9am.
They say the two occupants of the car were found trapped in it; the condition of one of them deteriorated and he died a short time later.
