7:48 am on 4 September 2011

Police say a post-mortem examination has been completed for a woman who was stabbed to death in the Wellington suburb of Strathmore but the results won't be released until next week.

Police say they were called to a family violence incident at about 11.30am on Friday.

Eman Hurmiz, who was 42 and from Iraq, died at the scene.

A man aged in his 50s, who also received injuries during the incident, remains in a critical condition in Wellington Hospital's intensive care unit.

Acting Wellington Area Commander Detective Inspector Stephen Vaughan said there was a police presence at the hospital, but it was too early to further discuss the details of the inquiry.

Police are not looking for anyone else in relation to death of the woman.
