Canterbury has claimed a fourth straight national provincial rugby title, beating Waikato 12-3 in the ITM Cup premiership final.
The scoring came from penalties in the match in Hamilton on Saturday.
Although Canterbury had won the last three provincial titles, Waikato had their best chance yet to take the top prize in domestic rugby - playing at home and with the All Blacks away on Rugby World Cup duty.
It was the last match for the Waikato team for first five Stephen Donald and fellow former All Black Sitiveni Sivivatu, who are heading overseas.
