Murder accused remanded for two weeks

A man accused of murdering a 41-year-old woman in the Wellington suburb of Strathmore has been remanded to reappear in the Wellington District Court on 19 September.

Police say Eman Hurmiz was stabbed to death on Friday.

A special bedside court hearing was held at Wellington Hospital where the accused, Najeeb Dawood, 51, is in hospital being treated for injuries sustained in the incident.

Police say a scene examination of the Strathmore property is continuing.
