High altitude curling in Canterbury

6:55 pm on 10 September 2011

High altitude curling is taking place on a frozen tarn at the top of Canterbury's Mt Olympus ski field this weekend as part of the Real NZ Festival, weather permitting.

Country Life reports 64 curlers have indicated their interest.

At 2054 metres above sea level, a claim will be made for the highest curling in the world, or certainly New Zealand.
