A private family funeral for the businessman Allan Hubbard is being held in his home town of Timaru on Wednesday.
The 83-year-old died after a car crash earlier this month, and the Serious Fraud Office has since dropped 50 charges of fraud against him.
His wife, Jean Hubbard, who was driving the car, was injured and is in a stable condition.
A public memorial service will be held early next month.
