Hamilton arrests normal number - police

7:27 am on 17 September 2011

Police in Hamilton say the number of arrests made after the New Zealand versus Japan Rugby World Cup match on Friday night was on par with a normal weekend.

Inspector John Kelly says the majority of arrests were for minor disorder and breaches of the liquor ban.

He says far greater numbers of revellers filled the city's bars after the game, than is normal for a Friday night, but most people were well-behaved.
