Arrest over video message threatening Government

6:29 pm on 20 September 2011

An 18-year-old man from South Auckland has been arrested for posting a video on YouTube threatening the Government.

The video contained a claim that explosives had been hidden in government buildings and threats that government and media websites would be hacked.

Police say the threats were an apparent protest against the new Copyright Amendment Act.

The man has been charged with threatening to harm people and property and will appear in the Manukau District Court on Wednesday.
