Police are appealing for passengers on a bus involved in an accident during Rugby World Cup opening celebrations in Auckland to come forward.

The bus crashed into a car, propelling it into a group of pedestrians on 9 September.

A 12-year-old boy and another pedestrian were seriously hurt, while another two people received minor injuries.

Police say the North Star bus was en route to North Harbour when it crashed into the car outside the BP service station on Fanshawe Street.

Police are appealing for anyone who was on the bus at the time or who saw the crash to contact them.
