Police are treating a fire at a remote Coromandel Peninsula community as suspicious.
The Fire Service was called to a house at Kennedy Bay at about 4.30am on Friday.
Police say officers at the scene have been working to confirm the whereabouts of the people who lived there.
They say communications with the area are difficult due to its remoteness.
