Warriors' final to be screened at Auckland fan zone

5:00 am on 27 September 2011

Auckland Council says it will publicly screen the Warriors' NRL grand final match at a fan zone in the central city on Sunday.

The New Zealand league team are playing the Manly Sea Eagles in Sydney after making the final for the second time in 17 years. In 2002, they lost to the Sydney Roosters.

A fan zone on Captain Cook Wharf will screen the game from 7pm on Sunday.

Another fan zone at Mt Smart will screen all league coverage that day.

Rugby World Cup organisers say the game can't be shown on the big screens at official tournament venues as they will be screening matches between Wales and Fiji, and Ireland and Italy.
