The average asking price for houses nationally rose significantly in September and the increases may be set to continue.
Figures from Realestate.co.nz show the average asking price is up by 2% on the previous month, to more than $425,000.
Chief executive Alistair Helm says the rise shows sellers are looking to capitalise on higher demand for property.
The highest asking price rises were in Auckland and Manawatu, up by 5.7% and 7.8%, while the biggest drop was in Southland which went down by 7.9%.
Mr Helm says the rises may continue as confidence in the market grows.
